Update March 2024 Please go to the new IPE website: indianpartseurope.com
Parts list for 101with WL flywheels. The lower end parts are the same for 37"/600cc model G and 45"/750cc model GP, but of course the pistons etc are different. This is a complete list of the parts you need for the lower end (flywheels, rods, bearings), including used and new Harley parts, special IPE stroker parts and regular Indian parts. You will have to find the Harley parts yourself, but IPE has all the rest. Ask if you have any questions. You can print this page (and all other pages on the site). Prices are each.
2023 - none of this is available any more - ask about alternatives
? = You will have to find these parts yourself.
Qty. P/N Used Harley parts (IPE can't help with these parts) EUR (EU) (World)
1 - Flywheels, pair. 45" WL, WLA or WLC, 1937-73 (earlier wheels will work, but have the oil drilling for the crank pin in a different place). Flywheel outer face on both sides must be turned down for IPE thrust washer adapter, P/N TWAWL to make the WL wheels fit in Indian cases.

?
1 - Connecting rods, pair. These will need straightening and rebuilding, probably requiring honing the holes back to round, and possibly custom OS races fitted and sized. If you don't have the tools and knowledge for this IPE can do it for you. Price depending on what needs to be done.

New Harley parts (IPE can't help with these parts either, but I might consider stocking some or all of them in the future if there is demand for this)
1 24341/52-29
Old P/N CRR750
Rod race set (also available in O/S for worn rods, I think).

?
1 23690-29
Old P/N 348-29
Crank pin (also availble in O/S for worn flywheel tapers).

- Misc. I was going to try to find all the parts numbers for all the parts (in all their variations; many of them come in oversizes etc) needed to rebuild the rods and big end assy, but I actually think I will leave that up to you. If you plan to rebuild your own rods you probably know what you are doing, and can find out what you need to do it and where to get the parts. If not then email me and we can probably arrange a set of rebuilt rods.

Basically, you will need a set of good rods, rod races, crank pin, rollers in the right size, roller retainers, crank pin thrust washers in the right thickness, wrist pin bushings and the small parts below. Parts like the races and bushings might have to be either an off the shelf OS, or custom made. You will also need a Sunnen hone or similar (or lapping gear if you want to do it the Wigwam Way), and some sort of rod checking jig. There is a good article here on fairly low tech rod rebuilding, part of a series on flywheel rebuild; you might want to read the other parts too - links in article.

IPE Stroker Parts (IPE has all of these parts!)
1 28B53WL Pinion shaft, WL flywheels in 101 cases. These shafts take WL nut and key at the flywheel end and stock Indian nut at the outer end.
1 28B96WL Drive shaft, WL flywheels in 101 cases. These also take a WL nut and key at the flywheel end and stock Indian nut at the outer end.
2 TWAWL Thrust washer adapter. This allows stock 27B174 Indian thrust washers to be used on both sides of the WL flywheels making them wide enough to fit the 101 cases. Thrust washer locating pins come installed in adapters. You will have to drill and thread holes on the face of the flywheel. Drill size is 3.30 mm (or the equivalent in inches, about .130"), screw thread is M4x0.7 - if you you live in a non-metric place and can't find a tap, let me know and I'll include one with your parts.
1 20B101WL Pinion bearing housing. These are made for line honing of the main bearings, so the small lip around the case bore in the cam case must be removed (ask before cutting if in doubt!). I need to know which OD you want your new pinion housing in. They are in stock semi-finished and are ground to size. The reason for this is that you can now line hone the main bearing bores in your cases back to round before fitting new bearing housings. After fitting in the case, the housing must be finish honed to size internally. Se note here on crank location (side to side).
1 75494S Pistons, special stroker. The P/N 75494S pistons for 37"/600cc cylinders have approximately 4 mm "pop-up" (like the factory's Bonneville pistons), and need the cylinder heads relieved for this. Pins fit WL rod bushings. Pistons come as a set of two, with rings, pins and circlips.
1 27C121S Pistons, special stroker. The P/N 27C121S pistons for 45"/750cc cylinders have no "pop-up" (that is they stop flush with the top of the cylinder at TDC), so the heads do not need modification. Pins are Indian size, so rods will need custom bushings. Pistons come as a set of two, with rings, pins and circlips.
Stock Indian Parts (IPE has all of these parts too!!)
1 20B97 Drive side bearing housing. Available in custom oversize to order.
4 20B98/27B263 Retainer, rollers (2 for the drive side and 2 for the pinion side). If your engine already has these they can usually be used again, but check for deformation and wear. The original 20B98 retainers are currently not being reproduced, but the later model 27B263 retainers can be used instead. They take 10 rollers each (20B98 had 11) and were used on the pinion side of Sport Scouts and 741.
40 16A15-size Rollers, drive and pinion shafts (20 for the drive side and 20 for the pinion side - not necessarily the same size). Available in these sizes (specify by P/N when ordering). Price is for 40 rollers. If you are using the original 20B98 retainers (see note above) you need 44 rollers. Remember to let me know.

1 20B99 Spacer, drive side bearing. If your engine already has this it can usually be used again.
2 27B174-size Thrust washer, pinion and drive side - correct thickness must be selected when assembling the engine; you can't guess in advance (aim for .010" - .020" or 0.25mm - 0.50mm total end play in cases). 27B174 available in these nominal sizes, and custom sizes to order:

? 27B174-047 Thrust washer, pinion and drive side .047" (1.20mm).
? 27B174-057 Thrust washer, pinion and drive side .057" (1.45mm).
