Indian Parts
Kiwi Indian, started in 1988 by Mike & Carolyn Tomas, has progressed from the humble beginnings out of a garage (working evenings only) to become one of the largest reproducers of v-twin Indian Motorcycle parts. Long known for his quality, ‘Kiwi’ (as Mike is known as, since he is originally from New Zealand) has been working very hard to bring the Indian customer not only the highest quality parts, but also the best value for money. Indian Parts Europe is European Distributor and Europe-wide mail order dealer for Kiwi Indian, making it easier for you to get the high quality Kiwi parts Your Indian deserves! Kiwi Indian has been the leader in new product development, and among the new parts are major pieces like nodular iron Chief flywheels (in 74”, 80” & 84”), Chief cylinder heads, Bonneville cams & followers (and new pushrod guides too), H-section Chief rods and new Chief crankcases with cam cover. Because these parts are state of the art designs produced on modern machine tools (some of the top shops in the industry have been involved in several KI projects) in large series, the prices are a lot lower than what we have been used to for comparable parts. The rods are Euro 535,00. Heads are Euro 459,75 per set (pre-order for the first batch), CNC machined 356-T6 crankcases with cam cover are just Euro 1799,00. Coming soon are top quality forged pistons with optional ceramic coating on the crowns and lubricating coating on the skirts (these pistons are currently being tested in Kiwi's own 84" engine). Kiwi has once again shown that they are the leader in parts for late model Indians with the intrudusction of the world's first 100% reproduction Indian engine. Complete new 74", 80" and 84" Chief engines are now available available! Also complete power trains with transmission and primary drive. Pretty much all we need to build complete new Chiefs is frames, and that will happen as soon as enough people ask for one. Stay tuned... Update March 2002: The new 84" Kiwi engine has now covered 20.000 trouble free kilometers and it looks like it's ready for another 20.000! More about the Kiwi Engine here. Another major trend in Kiwi's range is neat all-you-need-for-the-job kits. These go from complete transmission kits (everything inside the case, Euro 1469,00), complete ready-to-mount wheels and complete lower ends with Kiwi flywheels, rods and shafts (Euro 1550,00) to smaller things like fender mounting kits and bolt kits, all making restoring an Indian and ordering parts for it easier. Upcoming parts include a new modernized design cast piston as well as an updated forged piston using proprietary Kiwi Indian forging dies. Here's how Mike states the basic Kiwi philosophy: We're committed to manufacturing the highest quality parts for Indian motorcycles. Our slogan states, "quality parts, built to ride" and we mean that! Kiwi is committed to promoting vintage Indians and their durability by constantly riding one of several personal bikes (averaging about 15,000 km a year), and by sponsoring a team of Scout racers, both on the dirt and on the pavement (Kiwi sponsored Scouts came first and second in the Class C handshift class at Daytona 2001! Congratulations Art Farley and Art Delor!). Kiwi Indian was also the main force behind the Century Ride Home, a charity motorcycle road run from Southern California to Springfield, MA. to celebrate Indian’s 100th Birthday and raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. There will be another Ride in 2003 - in honor of the 50 years since the closing of the Wigwam. For more info, check out the Century Ride Home website at www.centuryridehome.org Traveling across the US several times a year with his Freightliner big rig full of parts and motorcycles, Kiwi Mike gets to meet and greet the Indian enthusiasts, and get feedback that helps in making Kiwi Indian even better in serving the customer. Here in Europe the (somewhat smaller!) IPE truck will be at a number of swap meets in 2002 with Kiwi parts and the rest of our line of quality parts. Click here for a list of places to meet us.
